Stage set for second act as Longines League of Nations™ returns to Ocala
Set in the heart of central Florida (USA), the second leg of the Longines League of Nations™ will take place at the World Equestrian Center – Ocala on Saturday 21 March 2026. One of North America’s flagship equestrian destinations, Ocala provides a spectacular stage for elite sport as the series rolls into the USA.
With the world’s top-10 ranked countries back in action, the race to the Longines League of Nations™ Final 2026 in Barcelona (ESP) is already beginning to take shape. France banked the maximum 100 points at last month’s season opener in Abu Dhabi (UAE), but Ocala has a reputation for rewriting the script.
Steve Guerdat storms to victory in Helsinki decider
A thrilling finale to the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2025/2026 Western European League unfolded in Helsinki (FIN) on Sunday, as the sport’s biggest names went head-to-head in the 13th and final qualifying leg.
When the final combination crossed the beam, it was Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat and the outstanding chestnut gelding Albfuehren's Iashin Sitte who emerged victorious, sealing their second win of the season after previously taking top honours in Leipzig (GER). Crucially, the result also delivered the series points Guerdat needed to secure his place at this season’s Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in April.
Willem Greve claims third win of the season in Gothenburg
Three victories in one season is a feat rarely achieved, but that is exactly what the Netherlands’ Willem Greve accomplished aboard the 15-year-old stallion Grandorado TN N.O.P. at the 12th leg of the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2025/2026 Western European League in Gothenburg (SWE) on Sunday.
It was a Dutch one-two, with compatriot Kim Emmen (NED) finishing second aboard Imagine N.O.P., while the home crowd was delighted to see Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE) claim third with her long-time partner H&M Indiana.
Team France fly to victory at Abu Dhabi season opener
Team France have set the tone for the third season of the Longines League of Nations™ with a sensational win in Abu Dhabi (UAE), where the formidable four-athlete squad delivered a convincing victory.
The French held their nerve to claim the season-opening title and lay down an early challenge, finishing on just eight faults across two gripping rounds. Germany took second on 12 faults, with Brazil also on 12 and edging into third on time.
Jessica Burke makes history in Bordeaux
It was an unforgettable evening for Ireland’s Jessica Burke (IRL) at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2025/2026 Western European League in Bordeaux (FRA) tonight, as she produced a career-best performance to claim a fairytale victory aboard the sensational grey Good Star du Bary. In doing so, Burke cemented her place in the history books as the first female athlete to win the Bordeaux title.
The stars aligned for the talented partnership, who have made just six World Cup starts together to date. Tonight marked the first time they have jumped clear, and what a place to do it, not once but twice, as the only combination to deliver the coveted double clear for the competition.
The Next Generation: Lisa Nooren & Giampiero Garofalo
There’s something special about watching a partnership that just works. When Lisa Nooren and Giampiero Garofalo ride into the arena under the Stal Hendrix banner, there’s an unmistakable sense of unity. Not just between horse and rider but also between two professionals who have learned to harness their different strengths towards a shared vision.
Sitting down with the newlyweds at their base in the Netherlands, it's immediately clear their partnership is built on far more than love alone. It's a meeting of minds and ambitions, shaped by formative years that couldn’t have been more different, yet somehow perfectly complementary.
Blarney Quercus crowned king of the castle at Agria Royal International Horse Show
Irish-bred brilliance took centre stage today at the Agria Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead, where Blarney Quercus (ID), bred by Caroline Colthurst of Co. Cork, took top honours in the British Horse Feeds & IDHS Supreme Ridden Irish Draught Championship.
The stunning 8-year-old Baltydaniel Romeo gelding impressed the judges during the Full Irish Draught Championship before being called back as Supreme Champion.
Blarney Quercus was bred at the historic Blarney Castle and was purchased as a foal by Peter and Kathy Bowdler after catching their eye with a win at the Dublin Horse Show. Described as an “absolute gentleman” by rider and producer Charles Le Moignon, Blarney Quercus is truly a credit to the Irish Draught breed.
Irish-Bred Horses Shine at Badminton leg of Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Class 2025
Irish-bred horses showcased their exceptional quality and future potential at the 2025 Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Class held at Badminton Horse Trials, securing podium finishes in both the four and five-year-old divisions.
The Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Series, which culminates at the Burghley Horse Trials on September 6, is designed to identify and support the development of young horses with the athleticism, temperament and type to progress to elite-level eventing.
Australian Riders Take on Badminton
Last week a total of 83 horses from 12 nations started at Badminton Horse Trials, presented by Mars Equestrian. The historic event was held within the grounds of Badminton House, the seat of the Duke of Beaufort, in South Gloucestershire, England.
The competition's starting lineup included five Australian combinations. Hazel Shannon and Dom Schramm made their Badminton debuts on Willingapark Clifford and Bolytair B, respectively. United Kingdom based Australians Sammi Birch, riding Finduss PFB, and Bill Levett, riding Lassban Diamond Lift and Lates Quin, were also entered.
Riders, owners, fans, and officials returned to the renowned venue for the first time since 2019 to open the event and witness the first horse inspection in front of Badminton House.
No luck needed when you have good Irish breeding!
There are few nations in the world with a heritage as deeply entwined with the horse as Ireland. Irish breeders have long been known for producing exceptional horses across various disciplines, and in 2024 that legacy was firmly reinforced as Irish Sport Horses once again asserted their dominance in the demanding world of eventing, winning three of the seven CCI5* events worldwide.
In a sport where marginal gains and split-second decisions separate the champions from the challengers, Irish Sport Horses stood head and shoulders above the rest. Their victories weren’t isolated or narrow; they were commanding, confident displays of the power, heart, and heritage that make Irish bloodlines so sought after.
